Overall, I cannot wait to see more. This is easily one of my most anticipated films of 2026!

Also, when I watched the trailer for the first time, I was dying laughing when they played the Prowler sound during Bowser Jr.’s reveal!

Benny Safdie is a random pick for Bowser Jr., but that’s kind of why I love it. It’s my favorite kind of Nintendo randomness. I did not have “one of the directors of Uncut Gems and the guy who played Edward Teller in Oppenheimer will voice Bowser Jr.” on my 2025 bingo card.

Starting with Brie Larson, I think she’s a great choice for Rosalina, and not just because it makes a certain group of people very mad. She’s got good range, she can sing (Envy Adams from Scott Pilgrim comes to mind), and she’s a big Nintendo fan.

The returning cast sound as great as they did before, though I really want to talk about the two newly announced cast members: Brie Larson as Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.

The animation looks spectacular and I cannot wait to see this trailer in the theater very soon (likely before Wicked: For Good, Zootopia 2, or both)! Plus, since it’s a Galaxy movie, that means it’s a sky fi movie. You know I can never resist anything sky fi!

I think the team at Illumination are cooking with this. It looks like they’re retaining what made the first Mario film so much fun and upping the ante by bringing elements from one of the most beloved Mario games to the big screen.

Exactly. That's my thought process on this. I don't let cynics online tell me how I should feel about films and just want to be honest as a film lover and critic. Even if some aren't, I'm excited for both films and that's how I feel.

If you are interested in either movies, then I highly recommend to unplug and be comfortable with having your own opinion instead of letting online trolls use their cynicism to ruin the fun. I know not everyone is excited for them, but don't forget that not everyone doesn't want these movies either.
