Benny Safdie is a random pick for Bowser Jr., but that’s kind of why I love it. It’s my favorite kind of Nintendo randomness. I did not have “one of the directors of Uncut Gems and the guy who played Edward Teller in Oppenheimer will voice Bowser Jr.” on my 2025 bingo card.

Starting with Brie Larson, I think she’s a great choice for Rosalina, and not just because it makes a certain group of people very mad. She’s got good range, she can sing (Envy Adams from Scott Pilgrim comes to mind), and she’s a big Nintendo fan.

Chris Stuckmann establishes himself as a filmmaker to keep an eye out for with #ShelbyOaks. An effective horror film blending found footage, mockumentary, and supernatural with some twists, solid scares and a phenomenal lead performance from Camille Sullivan. Can’t wait to see what Chris does next!
