Soccer. USL, MLS, Venezuela National Team
Reposted by Eduardo Teran
MLS fans in a year when there are a lot of cupsets of their teams: Cup games don’t tell you anything about who is the better team or league.

Those same fans today: “LMAO MLS clears USL by a lot.”

lol. Y’all are so predictable and lazy.

I love Cupsets™️ when they don’t happen to me

Last time Jesus Bueno was in the starting XI with Philadelphia Union was in July. Today he is playing with Venezuelan National Team in Quito for the qualifiers to the World Cup.
Where is Dani Pereira? In Austin, he wasn't called up.

Welcome to Club Cupset, Birmingham.

You're the first one in here without a goal, but someone inside vouched for you.

I guess you have some cousin in England?

No VIP access though.

A lot of things abput thr last Venezuelan call:
Jesus Bueno (barely play at Philly), Yriarte (spaniard 3rd division), Ortega (Saudi 2nd div) over Dani Pereira.
Gleiker and Lacava (i love both of them) but they are not better than David Martinez and Yerson Chacon.

I thought Oakland Roots was ambitious with their last signing, but then they sold their best player in the last 2 years: Johnny Rodriguez, to a direct opponent.
Great for Las Vegas, bad for the Roots.

Not a bad 1st game for Venezuelans in the MLS:
Telasco was the only one that scored, with an assist from Messi.
David Martinez in the staring XI with LAFC
Ronald Hernandez played 90' as LB with Atlanta
Wilkelman played 6' for NYRB
Daniel Pereira (Austin) the 90' and same for
Kevin Kelsey (Timbers)

The smart bet is on "USL Premier League" or "USL Division One" as the name for the new #USL D1 league, but don't sleep on "BundUSLiga"

I have no proof but also neither doubt that this is a case of follow the money. The USL wants new investors or the local governments to finance their new stadiums or the expansion of the old ones, and this put pressure and exposure to do that.

Let me guess, USL Premier?
BREAKING: The USL intends to launch a 12- to 14-team Division One league in 2027-28. USL believes the U.S. is more than capable of accommodating more D1 teams.

Move over, Major League Soccer. A rival top flight men’s league is coming to the U.S.
USL is launching a new league with first-division sanctioning, offering an alternative to MLS and potentially opening the door to pro-rel.

Great to see Sebastian Anderson in the USLC again and now as a full time and not on loan.
It sucks that is Harford. No offense, but they probably will be in the bottom half and Anderson could be in starting XI in a better team:

I'm really bad predicting the future. With being said, I think Philly will regret letting go Brendan Craig in 2 years.
Brandan Craig is ONLY 20 years old! The #USYNT standout needed a fresh start after a weird end to his time in Philly

Craig is still a big time young talent, I am excited for him as he gets way more of an opportunity at MLS minutes with #CFMTL

#MLS
Bienvenue Brandan 🤝

The problem with the last two Vinotinto U20 squads, in which neither team managed to qualify for the World Cup, was not the lack of talent.

The big problem is that neither of them proved to be a team. With talent, they should've played much better
January 31, 2025 at 5:17 AM
There was a lot of expectation on Venezuela U20 in this tournament because we had a lot of talent in playing in Europa (Quieto, Milani, Balbo and Cichero jr are playing in Inter Milan, Lazio, Fiorentina...) and Brazil (Andrade and Profeta in Fortaleza and Santos)

Jesus Castellano played again in Venezuela after 3 years in the US. Last weekend he played 3 minutes with Anzoategui (just promoted). He played with NYRBII in the USLC and the last 2 seasons with the MLSNP team of Cincinnati. He is only 20 years old, he's still young to go back to the US
January 29, 2025 at 3:53 PM
I'm a little dissapointed that Moises Tablante signed with another MLSNP team instead of testing himself in the USL Championship.

Seattle Sounders are going to play CCC, Leagues Cup, and their reserve team, the US Open Cup.
Oh, and also the Clubs World Cup.
MLS announced an update for which clubs will play in which cup competitions for the next two seasons.

The big changes:

- 18 MLS clubs will participate in US Open Cup
- 18 MLS clubs will participate in Leagues Cup

Great victory for Venezuela 4-0 vs. Perú. They played waaay better than against Chile, with more personality. Still, they had a few defensive mistake that Perú did not take advantage.
January 26, 2025 at 5:00 AM
At home vs. Chile and we lost 1-2. Not the best start for a team that supposed to qualify. A lot of expectation with this generation, a lot of talent even without David Martinez and Arango Jr, but the team just did not play good enough. It looked nervous defending.
Venezuela U20 is playing in 10 minutes. There are 2 MLSNP on the bench, Sequera (Philadelphia) and Fung (Inter Miami).

Yes, 6 millions seems right. He has a lot of potential, way more than he showed last year. Phil Neville's tactic fit him very well.
