Still looking for investors for my stupid app idea from 5 yrs ago.

It's called "note".

Basically Venmo but to actually get the money somebody sends you, it automatically + publicly posts a karaoke video on your social media account(s) (song and duration are chosen by the sender)

(semi-serious 😂)

#MLS axing separate Apple TV season pass, changing goofy playoff format, moving to Spring-Fall calendar?

Credit where due, that's a string of Ws if they follow thru on the schedule format items.

I would listen to Jacques Pepin read the dictionary. The way he softly says "hokay" when moving on to the next thing 🤌

The theme song hook from "Great Chefs of the East" lives in my brain.

Good Eats = Food Network GOAT.

Shoutout to ATK & Struggle Meals for more recent quality programs.
I have an incredible soft spot for what I call "lazy Saturday afternoon cooking shows"...those modest, comforting shows that would air on PBS-- Yan Can Cook, Frugal Gourmet, Jacques Pepin, Julia Child, etc. There's a quiet joy to them.

Ah "City Edition"

Nothing says connecting with the city you actually play in like:

• colors lifted from franchise when based in a city 2500 miles away
• an ad for a country on the other side of the planet
• the names of two non-LA cities on the court

I love how all the Bond films explain to the viewer how and why 007 has dramatically changed appearance, age, & time period.

I'll never forget the ending of Die Another Day when Brosnan starts to glow, uttters "The name is Bond..."

*regenerates into Daniel Craig, adjusts suit*

"...James Bond."
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

The weather concern for northern areas is valid. Just as it is for the brutal summer months in the south.

A USLSL-type schedule w breaks in both winter + summer is the best we can get without dividing geographically into two totally independent pyramids.

But the other sports competition thing...
broad swaths of the midwest, east coast and Texas would be unspekably cold to play in if this switch happens

that's before we even mention how many fall sports MLS would be competing against for attention
You’ve probably heard that the MLS Board of Governors is meeting this week to discuss, among other things, a move to the “European” schedule. My understanding is that there’s no way that happens in 2026, but there’s a very real possibility that it could happen in 2027.

I know there is zero incentive for Blank to spend extra money since he controls the dome, & not sure the current status of the place, but it would be cool (and much better game day optics) if the Atlanta #NWSL team refurbed Herndon Stadium a couple of clocks away

Incredible scenes, legendary stuff.

Remember that if North American soccer leagues flip their calendar, this could happen mid-season, but the league title race/playoffs would be free from any winter issues w/ northern hosts in late Spring/early Summer.

A move like this just reeks of little brother syndrome.

"Miami did this in the 90s so we should too!"

If they wanna change the name to anything, it should be to Everglades County, what it was originally intended to be called (instead they named it for a guy who championed draining the Everglades)

2009 #NASL promo scarf status update.

Only 4/11 teams hanging on, 3 of those in #MLS. Of the living, only Vancouver & TB still carry the same club name (TB of course had to spend 2 years as "FC Tampa Bay" due to IP issues).

TB is the sole lower division survivor from this period.

100% fair observation here & questions to be asked of USL.

I think this is why they are taking the big swing w D1+P/R.

Clubs dropping each offseason *IS* business as usual for lower div pro soccer & has been for as long as the US pro game has existed.

May as well try a different approach.
The USL's publicly stated ambition is clear: to implement pro-rel and launch a first-division men's league.

But North Carolina FC's hiatus reveals the cracks in the USL's ecosystem.

If North Carolina can’t justify continued losses, write @usltactics.com, they aren't the only club struggling ⤵️
North Carolina FC’s hiatus exposes the cracks beneath the USL’s expressed ambition
While USL arms itself for a push towards creating a top men’s league and adding promotion and relegation, it’s clear more work is needed.

If you have the money for a D1 team, you have the money to continue to operate a
D2/D3 team and keep continuity going.

If I were USL I'd absolutely look at going back into Raleigh, but with a different ownership.
Sources: North Carolina FC has applied for membership to USL's new D1 league, which is set to start in 2028.

NCFC's USL membership expires after this season. So club's plan is to wait to return until D1 league starts (with pro/rel).

No guarantee they get membership, but that's the plan
