Seriously... how sick the US are to get this man elected TWICE at the highest position ?!

What does it say of us all as Homo "Sapiens"?

On this, ninite. Uncle Ed gotta go to work tomorrow again.
He only occupies the office.

In - f#cking - deed. Are we gonna wait for COP40 to actually #ActOnClimate ? We oughta ditch fossil fuels and overconsumption... fast !

#COP30
Quite a metaphor. 👀

"The blaze [sent] panicked delegates racing to evacuate...rain from a torrential downpour leaked into the meeting spaces...There were complaints about food shortages, & the air-conditioning struggled to keep up with the high heat..."
Fire Breaks Out at COP30 Climate Talks in Brazil
Delegates were evacuated from the conference venue, where thousands from nearly 200 countries had gathered.

And its been the case since 2020... or 2016...

Gosh, no wonder we are all going nuts. And we are waiting for /something/ to happen so that we can begin the slow road to recovering our collective sanity.
it's weird to live in a world where a new 'worst thing you've ever imagined' happens at least a few times a month and it's easy to let it all run together and just sort of wash over you and go totally numb to all of it so you don't freak out because you still have to do laundry and go to work.

That chart sums it up perfectly. AI is not actually making "us" rich, except for a very narrow subset of "us," but it is making all of us stupider and more miserable

Having written about the necessity of killing king coal for a long time, this warms my heart.

If I read @ember-energy.org's reports right, coal still accounts for close to a third of South Korean electricity, and fossil gas for another quarter...

There are so many reasons to just kill the AI takeover in our lives.
It's so wild to see the centre-right effective altruist substack guys trying to kill AI criticism by over-emphasising typos, while Sam Altman is just out there constantly blurting out the most intensely ignorant shit you can possibly imagine

I laughed at loud. These people are so pathetic; our enemies are numbskulls. They will kill us all and still not know hs physics.

COWEN: The stupidest question possible: Why don’t we just make more GPUs?

ALTMAN: Because we need to make more electrons.

When you let the fascists and idiots and morons win, everyone loses.

Will France head the same way in 2027 ? Or even earlier ?
Before Brexit, the UK's GDP-per-head was on par with other major countries.

Since Brexit, the UK's GDP-per-head has flatlined, & is now substantially worse than those countries.

But blue passports, eh?
It’s like a decade a self-imposed economic sanctions.

That's scoring against your team, on a log scale.

This is painful to read.
Watching the Epstein survivor admit that she voted for Trump really fucked with my head. The brainwashing against the left that apparently people endure from birth, must be way deeper than I ever imagined. A victim voting for a rapist, who has also been accused by 26 other women? Over a woman? WTAF?

Thanks to @johannesstoffels.bsky.social, I am reminded that 40 years ago, Calvin & Hobbes started. What a treasure ! The box set is ine of my most prized possession.
40 years ago, the first comic of Calvin and Hobbes was published… setting off decades of children being inspired to be cartoonists.

Bill should be ashamed of himself. My god. Look at all those cartoonists just out and about now. Gross.

If we survive, then the ability of the world's most powerful electorate to give a power which turns out, it seems, to have no practical limits, to a man who is the living embodiment of "no redeeming features whatsoever" will haunt us for decades.
i know “quiet, piggy” is just one raindrop in the flood of vile, shocking statements from trump, but it’s SO cruel, so threatening, such a violation of our most basic interpersonal norms. i would really like to see it get some actual coverage.
"When an off-camera female reporter... began to ask if there was anything 'incriminating' in the Epstein emails, Trump pointed a finger in her face. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy,' he said menacingly."

Tell me again how it's women who are ruining the workplace?
