Lots of amazing stuff at the @edicaucus.bsky.social symposium today. Especially liked the provocations from PI Kate Sang, who talked about the need to take a critical lens to the EDI work we're doing and the need to make sure "we aren't just helping institutions 'badge' themselves as inclusive."

Today EDICa is holding its first workshop with the #BeingHuman2025 festival. We’ve partnered with the Community Wellbeing Collective in Wester Hailes, a part of Edinburgh with multiple deprivation, just 7 min drive from Heriot-Watt University.

Anyone interested in learning about why journals make a proactive effort to increase women's participation in the peer review process should take the time look at some actual evidence about why this is needed. We can remember Goodall’s accomplishments and legacy while recognizing that National Geographic created a narrative that erased the local people who contributed to her research. Her African colleagues deserve to be credited, not erased (10/10).

I had a mid-career fellowship and it was exactly what I needed to finish my book. The BA application forms are far simpler than you might expect if you’ve only ever seen forms for other funders. So, if you’re eligible, do explore further. Best of luck if you apply.
