Of babies infected w/Hepatitis B, 90% develop chronic infection.

Of those, 1 in 4 will DIE.

They lose the ability to get rid of toxins & make important proteins. Their skin yellows, their abdomen swells, they’re uncomfortable. A fate no one deserves.

One we can avoid w/ vaccination.

There's a non-zero chance that devin nunes-not-nuñez is galomping around SFO right now, on cheap shoes and an even cheaper red-brown dye job. Is he still in the greater Bay Area anymore? @devincow.bsky.social , anything I can try to milk of him for you?

Especially @kschwenky.bsky.social who requested good things today, and @laminx.bsky.social whose name should give it away.
These dogs were spotted taking a group photo in their Halloween costumes. We're impressed by the dog walker's dedication to getting the shot, but that ghost definitely wishes he could actually disappear. 14/10 for all (TT: franklinbarkzoo)

I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.

No, it's a *euphemism* known as "stake whatever". It's a tactic known as AUTHORITARIAN. You should familiarize yourselves with the term.
By proceeding with the demolition of the White House East Wing before seeking approval from federal agencies for a new ballroom, President Donald Trump forced the issue. It's a strategy known as "stake-driving."
How Trump Demolished the White House East Wing
By putting the demolition of the East Wing before the necessary approvals for his ballroom, President Donald Trump borrowed a tactic known as “stake-driving” to force an outcome.

First, it staves off apathy, cynicism, and despair.

Second, it demonstrates to those who might use violence against innocent civilians that they would be doing so against grannies, kids, neighbors.

Third, it shows allies and partners that the America they need is alive.
Here is my question, and it’s an earnest one I promise: whose mind will it change and to what end?

I don’t have any answers about what we need to do. But like, we did protests in 2017, and 2020. Among the biggest in NATIONAL HISTORY. Voting in my opinion has a much more direct effect than this.
The numbers I am seeing, and the breadth of people and places with basically no arrests and so forth, seem to me an unqualified political loss for them. It is a show of strength rather than the fight itself, but you can’t downplay it.

Please Democrats and Dem-aligned small-$ donors . . . Let's not McGrath the actual McGrath again. With a single digit fraction of what McConnell-haters gave her to lose by 30 points last time, we could have flipped four and possibly five State houses.
Even at $20, please donate smart.

As you take in the news each day, bear in mind that breaking our spirits is part of the plan.

Quite frankly: you all need to find some damn grit and dig in. We warned you that things would be worse the second go-round, but I’m seeing people throw up their hands screaming over mild inconveniences.

Sure... SOMEtimes. But there are times where the person is well enough known or the incident is so common in America that we do not in fact owe that vermin one moment of reflection or consideration -- nor anything. The sooner he is thoroughly forgotten, the better.
more than a decade of public scholarship has taught me that the moments when it's most tempting to react strongly and quickly are the ones when it's most useful to step back, seek context, and force yourself to think slowly. i don't always follow it, but those are my guidelines for myself.

No. The time for protesting and speaking up is NEVER past. Courage is contagious. Showing other citizens that we're not quitting, nor just accepting autocracy & fascism is ESSENTIAL practice. Citizenship is fucking hard.
How do I get this across
The time to protest has passed. The time to speak up has passed. The time to listen to the wisdom of the past is here. The true evil were the good people who watched and did nothing. We need to take what ever action is necessary to stop the suffering and death we are witnessing

The United States has reached its highest annual measles case tally in 33 years. As cases continue to emerge, health-care experts say the best way to protect against measles is to get vaccinated.
Should you get a measles booster? Here’s what to know.
Most people in the United States received the recommended two doses of the MMR vaccine as children, but a measles vaccine booster may help some adults.
