Blimey… proper throwback stuff and you felt Chelsea wouldn’t relish it after Europe then Arsenal at the weekend. In their faces from kick-off. Got the second at a great time, but we do need to be more careful with the ball when we do get it. Can’t do attack-v-defence for the next 45 minutes. #lufc

Oddly, and somewhat chillingly, that narrow Chelsea loss was followed by a humiliation at City… let’s try to avoid a mirror image on Wednesday. Same side that started the 2nd half? Same formation? Stach? Gudmondsson? #lufc

Without a formation change, Amps-Tanaka-Brenda in MF seems the likeliest combo… James comes in on the right. Might be a bit more 4231. As much as BA grates, I think he’ll be more useful vs City at 8/10 than Gruev at 6/8. But it’s going to be 5-0 whoever plays, tbh. #lufc

I seem to be in a minority about Farke's role yesterday. He got plenty wrong vs Brighton and Forest, but we were competitive and aggressive from the off against one of the best sides in the division. Yes, the subs could have come on a few minutes earlier, but it was still 1-1 when they did. #lufc

Another game where top-6 quality punishes bottom-6 mistakes. Thought we did a lot right today: competed all over the pitch, got the ball in the right areas, and worked the keeper several times. But Okafor switching off and Gudmondsson slipping (plus odd wall placement) means we get nothing. #lufc

Very good half. With a squad of limited quality, *that* is how you have to approach these games… relentless effort, MF tenacity and a very high press. Sustaining it will be the issue, of course, but we can’t sit deep and hope to keep them at bay. #lufc

So, from 65-1 just after lunch, with a lead of 105… we managed to lose by eight wickets before the close of play. Incredible stuff.
