There’s lots of praise for stuff like this which I can’t compute. What makes it objectionable for Israel to compete this year that didn’t apply last year, other than that last year was *your* moment in the spotlight and this year isn’t? It’s very easy to do what’s right when nothing’s on the line.

Impressively, he manages to give a 10-minute speech and dedicates precisely seven words to disabled people.

i see openai hired the someone from the liberal democrats to run their bar chart division
The ChatGPT subreddit is spiraling because the newest model sucks and the graphs OpenAI used to tout said model are complete nonsense. A company with a $500 billion valuation!

I think part of the reason more people are speaking up about Gaza now is the long history of famine being depoliticised as a sort of natural/Malthusian disaster rather than a catastrophe resulting from the decisions of political actors. You can ask to feed the starving, but not why they are hungry.

The Tories are like the evil stepmum the electorate live with who bans them from having friends and feeds them a diet of pure asparagus whilst the Labour Party is like the aunt they visit once a year who gives them fudge and slips them a £20 note which stops the child from going apeshit.

My brother. My mother. My aunt. All disabled. All gone. Not peacefully - but ground down by a system that said they weren’t worth saving.

I survived what killed them. Now, Labour are coming for me.

Our Leaders Are Letting Us Die
My brother had his disability benefits cut in the early years of austerity. Six months later, he was dead. Just 30 years old. No support, no safety net, no lifeline. And he wasn’t the only one. My …

In Parliament today I spoke about the truth behind rising welfare costs - and why I cannot support the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill, which does not address these roots causes.

This rushed, shameful, cruel Bill must fall.

The UK justice department has lost all veneer of being anything other than a rogue, lawless entity. They will overrule independent sentencing guidelines because enough far-right crybabies whine about it, but will damn throwing red paint over machines abetting genocide as terrorism.
Take care.

I feel like we’re getting to the ‘do something or get out the way’ stage of rising fascism and I have to get off my chest that as much as they individually seem like nice enough people, the current Green Party leadership are not meeting the moment whatsoever.

Poverty is the new draft. From one study in 2000, just before Iraq:
- 50% of all recruits have literacy/numeracy skills at levels at or below those expected of an 11 year old
From a sample of 500 recruits:
- 69% were found to have come from a broken home
- 40% were joining the Army as a last resort

National defence is not determined many guns you buy - you're not going to be able to defend yourself if the health service is so underfunded you can't treat the wounded, if your manufacturing workforce are living in poverty, if all the public utilities are in the hands of foreign billionaires etc.
‼️ BREAKING: Labour set to cut "unprotected" public spending by up to 11% to fund defence spending.

"We have to spend more on defense, that’s the reality of the situation" said Starmer.

Those facing cuts include DWP and Local Government.
