So Ender's Game meant a lot to me growing up. A book about a too-sensitive kid scared of being good at hurting people, trying to survive in a world that wasn't built for him?

It spoke to me.

Then I got to grow up 20 minutes from the author as he wrote hateful screeds about me in my local paper.

Unfortunately, it's less of a breakthrough than it sounds like: the underlying mechanism of Alzheimer's (the amyloid hypothesis) they're targeting has come into serious question lately and there's a good chance the entire body of scientific evidence in favor relies on faked data.

To say that we want wages for housework is to expose the fact that housework is already money for capital, that capital has made and makes money out of our cooking, smiling, fucking. At the same time, it shows that we have cooked, smiled, fucked throughout the years not because it was easier for us than for anybody else, but because we did not have any other choice. Our faces have become distorted from so much smiling, our feelings have got lost from so much loving, our over-sexualization has left us completely desexualized. Wages for housework is only the beginning, but its mes- sage is clear: from now on they have to pay us because as females we do not guarantee anything any longer. We want to call work what is work so that eventually we might rediscover what is love and create what will be our sexual- ity which we have never known. According to colleagues, IU faculty arrested at the Palestine solidarity encampment in Bloomington have been slapped w 1yr bans from campus. I have seen many examples of police brutality agst campus protests over the yrs- inc student bans - but I have never heard of faculty targeted this way before
