Biophysicist and wineman.
4,700 troops will soon be on the ground -- unasked for -- in an American city. That's the approximate size of a Roman legion, ca. 44 BC. Just sayin'.

If you're not aware of the expression "crossing the Rubicon," now might be a good time to look it up.

Protesting the kidnapping of American residents by masked, anonymous, jackbooted, paramilitary thugs is valid. Resisting said thugs is moral. Deploying the US National Guard against its own people is neither. Give them hell, LA.

What the abyss-shrieking shitsmacking fuck? THIS is what you're redirected to when you try to go to "covid.gov":
www.whitehouse.gov/lab-leak-tru...

Like, really. Truly. This is a ".gov" website officially sanctioned by the fucking White House.

Tear these assholes down.
Lab Leak: The True Origins of Covid-19
THE ORIGIN “The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2” publication — which was used repeatedly by public health officials and the media to discredit the lab leak

Ed Martin, now the interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, did not disclose his RT and Sputnik appearances from 2016 to 2024 to the Senate. The State Department has said the networks act like arms of Russian intelligence.
Trump’s D.C. U.S. attorney pick appeared on Russian state media over 150 times
Trump nominee Ed Martin’s 100-plus appearances on Russian state-directed media RT and Sputnik from 2016 to 2024 alarm some former national security officials.

Does anyone else out there who works with proteins or proteomics explicitly pronounce AA sequences to keep them straight? Like, ...TKLTVL... becomes "Tuckletivel". It's handy -- we've got almost the whole alphabet to work with. Geneticists must be all, like, "AAGGG!" in frustration, poor bastards.

What makes a fascist?

-Rejecting democracy for a strongman
-Stoking rage against elites
-Nationalism based on “superior” race
-Glorifying strength and warriors
-Disdain of women and LGBTQ+ people

These five elements find exact expression in Donald Trump. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XTJNy_OrjE

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.

Note, hilariously, that Mattis was Trump's own SoD in his first term. Trumpmusk shits on soldiers, veterans, and dead veterans alike. That may be our saving grace when push inevitably comes to shove, and all Trump has left to keep his enemies at bay is the military he loathes.
The letter warned the firings could politicize the military and deter talented Americans from serving.

We’re partnering w/ a number of groups participating in an #economicblackout THIS Friday, 2/28.

Do not spend, if possible.
No Starbucks on your way to work.
No drinks w/ the coworkers after work.
No dining out.
No Walmart run.
No quick McDonald’s drive-thru hit.

Hurt their wallets!

You nervous Nellies! I'm sure they harbor no ill will - all you did was summarily sack them without a trace of legitimate justification and gut the aid agency they devoted their lives to. By the way, what happened to "2nd amendment rights"? Oh, not for this? Gotcha', okay. Checks out.
Haha 😂 Trump appointees at USAID sent terminated employees a list of over 100 prohibited weapons they cannot bring when retrieving their belongings. The list includes firearms, axes, martial arts weapons like nunchucks and throwing stars, spearguns, and even dynamite.

The Judiciary is the last domino. Maybe it will actually stay standing, and Trumpmusk™️ will be buried under a lethal avalanche of lawsuits. ...Assuming they actually deign to comply with court orders. Boycott, fight, be loud.
Boycotts are taking hold. Protests are on the rise. Federal courts are hitting back. The Trump-Musk-Vance regime's popularity is plunging and DOGE is losing credibility. In these dark times, it's important to recognize that people are fighting back. Join them.

An excellent antidote to everything Trumpmusk (which may be the worst perfume ever invented. Ew.) is an extravagent meal at an exceptional restaurant. Reminds one that good, deeply human things still exist. The antithesis of ketchup on well-done steak (Ew.).

While research positions are getting illegally purged left and right and funding is being eviscerated, let us remember:

MA: Pays ~$119B in federal taxes, gets back ~$15B
CA: Pays ~$500B, gets back ~$300B
NY: Pays ~$300B, gets back ~$200B

The red states are living on welfare that we pay for.

Musk never had an idea that any self-respecting nerd hasn't considered before the age of 12. No advanced degree, no body of work. He hires people who quit after he takes all the credit, then hires more and more until he finds ones who are willing to work in quiet obscurity. Self-aggrandizing twit.
Tech’s Enduring Great-Man Myth
The idea that particular individuals drive history has long been discredited. Yet it persists in the tech industry, obscuring some of the fundamental factors in innovation.
