“How did you receive the foreigner? And did you receive him and welcome him or not?”

Pope Leo XIV challenges us to reflect on the moral cost of policies that target deeply-root immigrants and families.

The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

Those of us that worked in faith formation and education need to think hard about how we can do better in the future. Despite our best efforts, many Americans embrace or tolerate dishonesty, see the accumulation of wealth as inherently virtuous, and ignore real suffering while chasing fever dreams

Dear Canadian Friends,

We’re sorry. Please know that most Americans did not vote and do not support the lunacy that has broken our relationship with your fine country. Know that we are with you and look forward to when this nonsense is over.

“Due process” was created specifically for those who may have violated the law.

This Republican Congresswoman is describing a police state.
Republican Congresswoman Victoria Spartz: “You violated the law; you are not entitled to due process.”

This is a blatantly unconstitutional statement—every person is guaranteed due process under the Constitution.
