I went to Parliament today with 150 other scientists to #BringScienceToPolitics. As Sir David King said in his speech, we are currently still accelerating into the polycrisis and we need those in power to put the brakes on immediately! #ActOnFacts @sciencetopolitics.bsky.social

If scientists will not go to politics, then politics will come for science.

Today, the UK sees huge wins for the far right party Reform, led by Nigel Farage who wishes to cut climate costs.

To borrow from the brilliant @nanjala.bsky.social, we need to resist the narratives of inevitability when it comes to AI.

Question, question, question everything.
It's truly despicable how credulous - or cynical - Kevin Roose is. There is no evidence or any of this, and in the second paragraph he's already laying foundation to move the goalposts to wherever Anthropic says they are for AGI. This piece makes no arguments beyond what Roose "believes." Loathsome.

Absolute *#£*ing grifters.
Pirates. OpenAI sent tens of thousands of server requests as it was scraping the content of an ecommerce site with 65,000 products, each with its own page and three photos - it took it down, of course. + the AWS bill.

It's worse than nonsense, it's being said to prolong the Ponzi bubble of OpenAI. For a "reputable" news source such as Reuters to be parroting this manipulation from grifters is shameful.
Complete nonsense, based on nothing. Irresponsible to quote this like it is some sort of reasonable thing to say versus outright fantasy engineered to attract investors that don't know anything

We’ve had viable solutions for mobility both within & between cities for a long time, like high-speed rail, prioritized public transit and networks of protected bike-lanes. We need leadership. And we need to stop letting “shiny new tech” distract us from implementing them. Image via UrbanThoughts11
