I made this little illustration to celebrate The Magic Fish making back its advance way sooner than I expected and its Harvey Award, and I’m still so grateful to every person who advocated for this queer book.

This is one of the illustrations I enjoyed doing the most, last year. I wanted the right overlap of colour from 2 different sources + the mirror & the glimmer. It always received a tepid response. Proving not everything you enjoy doing will be liked, and that's okay.

I literally create graphic novels with children who struggle with reading in mind because I was that kid and growing up with that shame kills any enthusiasm toward reading in general period.

Plus, all reading is nutritious when are a kid learning to read!

And this is why I will now be drawing queer people being super duper queer and super duper happy about it for the foreseeable future.

The whole American mood atm is yeah having unprecedented prosperity and security painstakingly built up over 100+ years is great and all but what if we just burned it all down
The USA has come to take for granted an excellent and mutually beneficial relationship with both bordering nations on the continent rather than recognising it to be an extraordinary result that diplomacy built over a century.

These emails, sent across agencies, compel all federal employees to snitch on any colleague whose work might have some vague DEIA inflection. Those who refuse to snitch will be disciplined.

Seems designed to put all workers who aren’t white men under a cloud of suspicion. Truly vile stuff.
The acting director of the Office of Personnel Management (the feds' H.R. department) is telling federal employees to rat out their DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility) colleagues by emailing "DEIAtruth@opm.gov."

I will also be participating in this art show! I’m so excited! The artists are incredible.
Public submissions are now open for Fantastically Human, an art show at Compass gallery exploring the human condition through fantasy, folklore, and myth.

I will be participating as well as @howardlyonart.bsky.social and many other amazing artists!

The difficult part is how disability and chronic illness are used as justification for Ai. The community wants and needs it for medical applications, accessibility and early detection.

We don’t want generative Ai. Disabled people need imagination to survive, why would we need it to create?
Flyers and posters at the radiologist’s office (standard checkup) about how they use AI to detect cancer and the (justified) public hysteria around it has me having to remind myself this is the GOOD kind of AI that actually saves lives and is an enormous step forward in medicine and not evil

in one of my favorite books of all time - JUNO & JULIET, an Irish romcom by Julian Gough - one character explains to another that constantly pretending to be an asshole as a joke is meaningfully indistinguishable from actually being an asshole, and I've thought about that every day for 24 years
