The first Thanksgiving after leaving my first husband (2011) I invited myself to a Friendsgiving. I didn’t know I was supposed to bring something.
Then they all had instruments and broke out into song and spent *hours* singing songs I didn’t recognize.

I'm excited that we are able to get some kids toys for under their tree, but there's also something uncomfortable about how all this giving just pads the retail profits.
