I'm a sucker for secondary worlds and fantasy especially, but boy howdy am I tired of tropes like assassins and thieves being caught up in intrigue or great warriors who are now grizzled and cynical. We need more like "office clerk is mistaken for a famous spy"

The best part of working from home is being able to pop up and do chores like cycle some laundry. But my favorite thing to do is to set up some slow cooking recipes. Do I need to braise this for hours in the oven? Easy to do.

This from a guy who also wants to close the Department of Education*

I mean, the guy played one of the key heroes fighting a second wave of fascism and it would be hypocritical to get paid by a major corporation capitulating to a second wave of fascism to portray that character again.
OSCAR ISAAC, on whether he'd return to "Star Wars":
".. Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great."

Oscar Isaac Was ‘Not So Open to Working With Disney’ After Jimmy Kimmel Suspension, Said He’d Return to ‘Star Wars’ if Disney Does ‘Not Succumb to Fascism’
Oscar Isaac was not open to working with Disney after Jimmy Kimmel's suspension and will only return to 'Star Wars' if the studio avoids fascism.

Not only do I buy the "we gave in because they were about to nuke the filibuster" argument on "these people are pathological institutionalists despite all the evidence of reality, but I buy it because "They'll remove the filibuster if we use it" is just as stupid as I expect Senate Democrats to be.

With Senate Democrats most recent capitulation, we're no longer in Lucy with the football territory. We're now in "you're not here for the hunting" territory.

This is exactly how I play RPGs, but I play single player so my resource hoarding doesn't hurt anyone but me.
no matter what the circumstances, democrats are always saving their energy for a mythical future situation where they will do something good

Not only does this seem likely, but it makes the capitulation a double defeat

Every once in a while, I find myself getting the drive to change our national motto back to E Pluribus Unum. If I were running for office or writing speeches for a candidate, it's one of the things I'd lean on. That, the poem The New Colossus, and even Blashfield’s Mural “Human Understanding.”

This was such a fun day. Really, it was like any sitcom came to life. Truly unbelievable.

Is there a way to buy a peerage these days? Because I would contribute cash money to get Sean Dunn named the Earl of Sandwich

One of the reforms I don't hear anyone talking about is that I think we need to change immigration courts into Article 3 courts, with all the rights and protections that entails. Then we turn ICE into basically a bailiff service and far less acting like they're Elliot Ness going after bootleggers.
NPR's data analysis shows that the DOJ has tended to fire judges with immigrant defense backgrounds in its recent rounds of dismissals. n.pr/47uKYeQ

There's so much talent and experience out there with mortgages and kids who can't go do the garage indie game route anymore while saving for college and retirement. They'd fill the world with games people love that we never knew we wanted. Same with TV, movies, books, etc.

Over the past years, I've been radicalized from "Hey, let's enforce antitrust laws again" to "Let's pass newer, harsher antitrust laws that will force the unravelling of every merger or acquisition for the last 50 years."
This layoff is not related to Square Enix saying earlier today that it is looking to automate QA testing with generative AI — this is consolidating publishing, marketing, sales, and other business operations from the US and Europe to Japan

There's also a market for tight strategy skirmish games. And a market for fussy, niche economic sim games. And yet, those are old genres with dedicated fanbases, so you're never going to get the desired quarterly growth numbers demanded by finance bros. And there are no single player game whales.
It's cool how we keep proving over and over and over again that there's a significant market for narrative-heavy, character-driven, single-player experiences in video games and publishers just categorically refuse to believe us

Housing is bad, so this isn't a surprise. But how murdered? Murder suicide? Maybe. Part of elevated crime in the neighborhood? Ehhhh. Mysteriously died in some inexplicable way and the family photos taken in the home show a door that is not there in the listing photos? Probably not.

I'm serious. Start saying this now, because people are starting to sweat the existence of Congressional oversight.
I think high ranking Democrats should start saying that they'll be open to immunity deals for people in this who preserve their Signal chats.

I have had trouble following the Virginia governor's race because I keep thinking Winsome Earle-Sears is the evil former FBI agent from Twin Peaks.
