I think fundamentally, the ability to care about the rights of a small and vulnerable minority (of whom you might know no members) is an important sign of whether you are committed to human rights out of principle, or out of mere convenience.

Just bought myself a sander, some sanding discs and some filler (DIY jobs to do at home). And let's challenge the idea that trades/trade skills and academic knowledge/skills are entirely different things for entirely different people. I've been doing DIY/construction courses at college this year

Great thread by @ipanalysis.bsky.social on AI and qualitative analysis (and other things). I remain completely baffled about the enthusiasm for using AI to do qualitative analysis and (reflexive) TA specifically... not least because it is profoundly unethical, exploitative, eco disaster technology

As Qualitative researchers, we should definitely care and remain curious about what 'good work' can look like - but we should be very wary about assuming that a focus on 'rigour' will address this question. 1/13

In addition to my other concerns about AI (ethical issues, concerns about potential erosion of critical thinking skills and creativity) I'm now pondering the mental health implications of a reliance on technology. Do we risk our own decision making and critical thinking? (1/?)
