There's a reason why so many GREAT workers came out of that era of WCW. They learned to have good matches with anyone, because they had to.

I think the big influence from WCW is the "We hired wrestlers from all over the world with a lot of different, unique styles, and now we're going to have them all wrestle"

AEW is basically "Mid-90s WCW(except the title scene, which was DIRE), updated for modern audiences and not run by morons" and I think that's wonderful.

I think there's a lot of value to watching/reading about that era of WCW to learn about how we got here, but it's not like....pivotal to do so

I saw some random tumblr post suggesting that Bond, Mary Poppins, and Miss Frizzle from the Magic Schoolbus should all be considered Timelords named The Spy, The Maid, and the Teacher, and I think it sort of fits for all three of them as far as unofficial headcanon goes

Completely reasonable.

If you've never played the game, I want to be clear that:
1. The Vice President is Keith David, playing himself
2. This sequence is a simulated nightmare he's being forced to live through over and over again inside the Not-Matrix
3. His nightmare is "They Live", but real

It's also a game that allowed me to take this picture while house-sitting for my mother back in 2013:

There's literally not another video game like it.

The closest pop culture piece to it I can think of is Kung Fu Hustle: both are simultaneously parodies and tributes to a dozen different things, while also being something completely unique and wonderful in their own right.

Anyway, when I was playing SR4 for the first time and "I don't want to miss a thing" started playing while my character jumped and grabbed onto the side of a launching nuclear warhead, I had to pause the game because I was laughing so hard

Last week, my wife and I hit the one year anniversary of our son Peter being born already sleeping, and I didn't post about it on here, because I didn't feel like it.

FYI: part of why there's no budget right now and the shutdown happened is because of all the stuff they tried to shove into the budget that got yanked by the Parliamentarian this past summer.
