How many illegal immigrants are living in the UK?

Are they put up in ‘four star hotels’?

Are phones and iPads provided?

Following comments made by Rylan Clark, BBC Verify Policy Correspondent Ben Chu goes through the data and information for #Newsnight

The unbelievable condescension we’re already seeing today towards working class people- suggesting they don’t travel to Europe or their kids might not want to go to university and study in Europe- is quite something to behold.

That is genuinely one of the greatest results in Liverpool's long history in Europe. Lucky in the first half, resilient in the second, and then they take their big moment when it comes at the death. Work still to do at Anfield but it's remarkable they're taking a lead back there.

In most places in the world, power from new renewables is now cheaper than power from new fossil fuels.

Why did renewables become so cheap so fast?

The answer: learning curves.

🧵There's a line of thought that Trump's victory means progressive causes are doomed in the court of public opinion. I don't think that's true, but I do think it shows more thought needs to be given to what ought to be a tautology but infact often isn't - inclusive progressivism.

Wow how did this manage to get published?
Very upset and hurt today to read this on universities. I've worked for many years on quality control, but apparently there isn't any. And apparently you should provide biochem and medical degrees for the same price as school. Scary that this should be published. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Good to see the uplifting of tuition fees to help a struggling HE sector but this needs to be a down payment on support and reform.

Without reform of the funding model that disadvantages too many young people we're in a race to the bottom that denigrates one of the UKs true world leading sectors.
