After a bit of a gig drought, went to see Black Country New Road in Dundee. Hard to pigeon hole their music. Jazz-Folk? Impressed by the audience singing along, they've built an impressive following

Today I'm reminded of the old Nursery Rhyme

Oh the Grand Old Duke of York
He had 12 million quid
He gave it to someone he never met
For something he never did.

Could be an emotional night

First gig of the year, and a good one. Moving Pictures playing in Church Dundee. Very impressive to see the Bass player has now acquired an electric violin and they've added Losing It to the repertoire. A very emotional song.

I've just picked up one of the IKEA Sonos speakers for a bargain price. But now it's about to turn into a massive headache because it doesn't work on my old s1 system. Is it worth creating two Sonos networks now or should I just bin the new speaker. What a pain technology can be sometimes.

Found another book to sell. Illustrated nursery rhymes from 1885. It's beautiful, but more people are interested in my fancy Hobbit themed letter opener on eBay. That's brand power I guess. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18689553...

Best gig of the year this year (out of eleven) was the Rush tribute band Moving Pictures. They played an amazing set including the whole of the Exit Stage Left album, including, to impress those who know the album, including the drum solo. Incredible.

Toyah and Fripp were a great covers band last night. There seemed to be a lot of love for both of them. Last time I saw them it was definitely a Toyah audience. This time more mixed

So there were two old guys. And one old guy said about the other that you shouldn't vote for an old guy because he's so old. And the old guy became so convinced nobody would vote old guy he got replaced by a younger woman.

But the people voted for the old guy.

Gig tonight was excellent and included a feat I've never seen before. In the first set they played one of their better known songs backwards. They recorded it and played the video backwards to open the second set. Very impressed.
