Becoming propaganda: critical race theory and the effect of fiction on education

I have continuously grappled with the concept of neoliberalism and the uncritical use of the term that has become an empty signifier. In this blog I have come to a point where I will concede AI is neoliberal adjacent.
Why AI quacks like neoliberalism
This is the seventh blog that sociologically considers the phenomenon of AI in education in dialectic with The Eye of the Master: A social history of artificial intelligence by Matteo Pasquinelli. This post is inspired by Chapter 8. You can read my blog inspired by the Introduction here, Chapter 1 here, Chapter 2 here, Chapter 3…

I must say SBS is swamped with gambling ads. It seems weird the national provider would support this industry
‘Labor sources have told ABC Investigations the PM’s office has been putting pressure on advocates for gambling reform within the parliamentary Labor party to prevent them from speaking up.’

Arise, Caucus MPs! You have nothing to lose but your chains!

'Broad, unspoken consensus': silent Labor MPs want action on gambling
Andrew Wilkie has asked the PM to allow a free vote on banning gambling advertising and it appears many Labor MPs would support it.

I do think this is another dot com bubble but we have to remember that crash produced the BigTech we have today. So it is never proof that AI is going to disappear... we just need to place bets on which one will win.

My money is on Google
ICYMI: Microsoft’s charge “implies a more than $12 billion quarterly loss at OpenAI, said Firoz Valliji, an analyst at Bernstein.”

That “would mark one of the largest single-quarter losses for a tech company in history.”

Computers used to be hulking machines the size of entire rooms. After decades of innovation, we’ve managed to make them as large as several cornfields.

Pretty excited to be part of one of these projects.

We're working on making public documents more accessible and not just "available online".

Did you know Australia used to be great at public document archiving? Since the internet, so much has gone "missing" or deleted.

I love Wendy Brown but I should not read her when I don't want to be angry.

Today am writing about teacher influencers. When you add Wendy Brown these teachers are just trying to buffer themselves from economic destruction, but are in the meantime actively reshaping education as we know it.

88% I think (according to Perplexity).
The 12 that aren't are children's books, poetry and niche Australian books
Has anyone analysed the Radio National to 100 books based on whether they are available on audiobook. I think that'll be the most telling explanation.
