I was late arriving to my first Cubs game ever when I was 10. My favorite player, Sandberg, was at bat, and hit it into the left field bleachers for me. I lost interest in baseball after he retired and the strike in '94, but was pulled back in when he returned a couple years later. Thanks, Ryno
Ryne Sandberg was my favorite player. Tonight, as I sat in my office under a couple of his cards and a faded yellow postcard of his HOF plaque, I worked to post his Chicago Tribune obituary, remembrances and photos. It was sad and surreal, but it is an honor to have played a part in this work.
Ryne Sandberg, a Hall of Fame second baseman who redefined the position with a rare blend of power, speed and defense during his 15-year Chicago Cubs career, died Monday at age 65.

He passed away surrounded by family at his home in Illinois, the Cubs announced.

You know how much you love the "magic" of ILL?

Defend it by defending IMLS.
🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

If this is real - and we should verify it is - we all really HAVE to demonstrate we have Senate Dems' backs. Next week is congressional recess. If this holds, be ready with a loud and enthusiastic THANK YOU if you have a Dem Senator. This is how we build a unified opposition party.

Team Fight has won the CR battle in the Senate Democratic caucus.

The fact congressional Democrats have not hired three dozen D&D rules lawyers with oppositional defiant disorder and turned them loose on parliamentary procedure with the goal of maximum obstruction is such a fucking missed opportunity
I’m bringing this up because this is a simple procedural way to fuck with republicans even if they’re in the majority. Call them out of order, rise to a point of personal privilege, use the very procedural rules that organize their meetings to strangle them. It fucking works.
