This is good advice for readers.

But also, academics, put up a website! Put drafts of papers as submitted on it!

If you don't feel like doing that, at least post drafts to PhilPapers, or SSRN, or arXiv, or somewhere. You're getting paid to provide a public good, not support commercial publishers.
Every now again it’s useful to repeat advice about accessing papers that are behind a paywall that excludes you. Email the author. My estimate is that 90% of academics are so thrilled that a living, breathing, possibly even reading, person shows interest that they will swiftly send you a copy.

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

And much like how deregulation and the Volcker Shock are legacies kicked off by Carter but owned by Reagan, the Biden admin will ultimately be remembered as a time of continuity with the two Trump terms, where AP history students will get bonus credit for naming under whom Roe fell and Gaza vanished
trump will be the next reagan in the sense that in 30 years every time you notice some horrible defect in society you'll do some quick research and trace it back to trump

“‘America First’ as a phrase is often associated with the idea of isolationism. But Trump is not an isolationist,” David Frum told @isabelfattal.bsky.social in The Atlantic Daily. “What he is interested in is a more predatory approach to foreign countries.”

Dr. Rahier’s class was flagged as having “unproven, speculative or exploratory content.” Wouldn’t want any of that in our intellectual lives.

I love this idea that Biden pardoning Hunter will somehow ‘justify’ or ‘excuse’ Trump pardoning the Jan 6th prisoners, ignoring the fact that:
1. Trump had promised to pardon them long before Biden did this.
2. There is nothing comparable between Hunter’s crimes & their crimes.
