But also: pants with kneepads and a jacket with bottle-filled pockets, the back of which has holes so some black feathers can jut out. They have a Shakespearean ruff at the bass of their long swan-like neck. They have a very long beak with very small round glasses perched at the top by their eyes. They seem to have wattles, like a turkey. In their right hand, a jar that they seem to be spitting into. I guess that's ink. In the left hand, a black feather, like the ones in their back, now in service as a quill.

a joke riffing off of a now-deleted post (presumably about app-based paid-by-the-minute work-for-hire), where yours truly makes up "the lesser-know Asimov story, 'Gig Economy and Foundation'." where "Hari Seldon's psychohistory predicts the in-lockstep cycle of advances and regressions in AI systems and workers' rights." (another poster who is even less familiar with Asimov's work finds this credulous, and i admit to making it up for the bit without really apologising)

had an idea waiting for the train earlier today, somewhat reconciling alien abduction stories with their 'fey revel' and paralysis demon predecessors, where there'd be 'sky rivers', usually invisible, that a fairy realm party boat could float down, and abduct mortal participants with gossamer ropes

On his birthday, remembering William Campbell, who played Trelane in "The Squire of Gothos" and Koloth in "The Trouble With Tribbles" on #StarTrekTOS. He revisited Koloth almost 30 years later, playing him in the Deep Space Nine episode "Blood Oath."
