Road runoff will pass through vortex separators, a series of filters, wetlands + bioswales - the aim: to stop lead, chromium + PAHs from the highway permeating a chalk aquifer.

Imagine the boost to wildlife if work like this were rolled out across the country.

Some sewage discharges classed at 'non-impacting' have lasted for over 70 years. Many last several tidal cycles
