Ever notice small scale #aquaculture (SSA) doesn't seem to get much attention? Us too. We ran a semi-quant synthesis of the the literature and found it is poorly defined, missing from the US & Europe, & underrepresented in marine systems (e.g., oysters) dx.doi.org/10.1111/raq....

🌊 Ocean warming threatens the viability of 60% of Antarctic ice shelves

If global temps stay <2 °C, nearly all 64 ice shelves survive by 2300. But above ~4.5 °C, ocean melt causes 38 shelves to collapse by 2300, risking up to 10 m sea level rise.

Warmer waters in the Bering Sea caused snow crabs to crash. Now, scientists are racing to predict the future of the lucrative fishery.

The map also shows the area of an annual survey of the snow crab population, which intersects partially with the cold pool. Panel 2 shows two line graphs comparing the average cold pool area with the snow crab population from 1992 to the early 2020s. The cold pool area dropped to its lowest point in summer 2018, and the snow crab population plummeted the following year.
