New YouGov/Economist poll out this morning finds Trump is no longer popular on immigration. This was the last issue he had a positive net approval on.

This was very easy to see coming, esp bc individual components of immigration policy are so toxic: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/should-dem...

"Normali controlli amministrativi" a un panificio solo perché espone un manifesto celebrativo del 25 aprile?

È più chiaro ora quanto dico circa un certo clima che induce zelanti funzionari a compiere particolari atti, che tanto "normali" non paiono?

The head of our country’s government is in the early stages of consolidating total power. We must of course reject this, but that is not enough. We have to respond by creating a different and better kind of American politics than we have seen before.

Garcia's wife doesn't deny the incident, saying they worked through it and were happily married for years after. But the government is fishing post-hoc for evidence that this was a bad hombre. He was not deported for this. He was illegally sent to hell on earth on hearsay about MS-13.

This is a blast of a column that should straighten some spines with pride in Europe.
The thing about Europe: it's the actual land of the free now.

Whatever problems Europe has - and it has plenty - it is looking pretty damn good by comparison these days.

Oh ffs BBC. It's "change tack" not "tact".

And to say something else blindingly obvious, yet which I just feel the need to get out: "we're only rolling back tariffs on things everybody wants and needs" is a flat-out admission that trade is good, and tariffs are not.
I'm the millionth person to point this out. But exempting countries, factories, sectors, products etc at Trump's wave of the hand is just a big flashing sign inviting corruption. And he is loving it. Everyone "kissing his ass" for exemptions. www.bbc.com/news/article...

why is *every* newspaper/programme running with the headline "tariffs are paused" when they haven't been.

What's happened is that every country (except China) gets a flat rate of 10% for 90 days.
