Legal historian, Colombiana artist, horror girlie ✌🏽

Current Law & History Fellow @ Stanford Law & Stanford Center for Law and History

Soon to be Assistant Professor of US Latiné History @ Appalachian State University
Pinned
So excited to announce I will be continuing my next journey as a historian at @appalachianstate.bsky.social teaching Latinx history as an assistant professor!

Couldn’t be happier and so thrilled to explore the region and work with students!

Any NC recs, suggestions, foodie stops? Let me know!
It still shocks me to when people want to display my art in their homes.

This all began as a way to deal with stress and put my love of pop art in conversation with my Colombian heritage, and has transformed into something unexpected and beautiful 🫶🏽

Some sad confirmation from @bcgl.bsky.social while I was at UW last week—the National Digital Newspaper Program—which builds Chronicling America—has been shut down

Historical newspapers are probably the archival material most used by the general public—for genealogy, local history—it’s such a loss

The recent wave of docuseries on kid & family influencers is one of the most disturbing thing I think I’ve ever witnessed.

Children are not content. Why is this so difficult for parents to realize?

Rewatching Nosferatu (2024) & there are great contract law lessons!

Never sign a contract written in blood and/or language you can’t read

Don’t enter into a contract with an immortal being who wants you soul

Don’t let your spouse give your hair to a random vampire during contract negotiations

Cancelling @joyannreid.bsky.social means the door she held open for the next generation of Black voices will slam shut. Without her, the next her, won't get platformed by white media. That, of course, is why white media pushed her out.

Watching White Lotus and I’m having a distant memory of my dad getting mad at me for “disgracing” the family by even jokingly suggesting we were middle class.
