A lot of people here at Blue Sky rag on Democrats for not doing anything. While many could be doing a lot more, look at the legacy of real accomplishments for this murdered leader -- pro choice legislation passed, clean energy bill, voting rights expanded, medical leave, etc
Who was MN Rep. Melissa Hortman in the MN Legislature? READ about her consequential leadership in this THREAD by @taniel.bsky.social.

Take the time.
Melissa Hortman, who was assassinated last night, was the Speaker of the Minnesota House in the 2023-2024 session, when Democrats ran the state government.

That means she had a leading role in shepherding the many landmark reforms that Dems adopted in that period—an important legacy. Brief 🧵.

I think large, positive, and peaceful gatherings to build community and raise people's awareness are better than screaming at National Guardsmen who don't wanna be there and waving foreign flags in front of burning cars, but that's just me.
Dancing will definitely stop this. And the admin will definitely not call out the Nat Guard over dancing. And, 100%, cops won't hit you in the head with a stick/rubber bullet for dancing.

But sure, there's a "right" way to protest that will not escalate violence.

I taught military officers for 25 years. It is not an illegal order to be deployed to Los Angeles. They'd be in a shit-ton of trouble for saying "I refuse the order of my platoon and company commander to move with my unit." That's not how it works, except in the movie you're watching in your head.

there is simply no amount of child death that will move RFK to change his mind because he is a predatory narcissist who cares less about health than the gratification of his own ego
Astonishing RFK Jr interview with NBC. At 23.30 he claims pharmaceuticals are the 3rd leading cause of death in the US [wtf]. He discloses the name & medical history of the 2nd child to die of measles, implies she wasn't healthy & argues about her cause of death. @gorskon.bsky.social

Normal US Attorneys don’t file this stuff personally. Much like normal Deputy Attorney Generals don’t personally take over motion practice in a public corruption case.
DC U.S. Attorney Ed Martin personally asked a judge for authorization to seize funds related to a Biden administration green program. The judge said they failed to show a reasonable belief that a crime occurred.

Emotionally, my reaction is the leopards. But rationally I'm stuck: how do we reach these people? How do we convince someone "the rapist conman from the ruin-everything party is lying and will hurt you"? It's self-evident, and yet they all refuse to understand until Trump/GOP injure them personally.
People’s reactions to these stories tend to be of the leopards-eating-faces variety but this is a great piece of reporting in part about how voters very disconnected from politics make their choices.
