Snyder and Shore were planning this move way before Nov 2024, which they (or at least Snyder) openly acknowledge. Very strange to publish this now implying that their move is political.

Fundamentally the real problem in comparisons (if one gets past such complicated issues to the American mind as "exchange rates) is that measuring how much you pay in taxes is easy, but the market value for the quality of public services you get in return is not

The techy but important point: most forecasts assumed that the dollar would strength as tariffs were imposed, partially offsetting the price shock. Instead a falling dollar is - possibly - going to magnify them.
End result = more pain for American consumers & firms.

Normally when a country does something utterly self-defeating, its currency loses value.
Historically that has not been the case with the US. But the dollar is falling. Making America Normal Again.

I feel like I’m going a little crazy, everyone’s acting like things are normal. None of this is normal, presidents aren’t supposed to ignore the law.
