He/him. A Disciples of Christ minister and a Thunder fan
George Cross in 1951 told the state legislature: "I would like to build a university that the football team can be proud of." For the first time in my life, I am ashamed to be a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. The administration is failing in its mission to promote academic excellence.

Today I am thankful for my family, my church, my friends and my professional colleagues. I cherish these relationships.

I’m learning much by watching Ken Burns’ The American Revolution. I’m also reading Ron Kernow’s massive biography of George Washington, which is just as compelling. I appreciate reporting history in all its complexity instead of whitewashing it. It helps me appreciate the humanity of our founding.

When the topic is women the conflict is that women are failing society. When the topic is men it's that society is failing them.

"almost every night since Oct 2023, even during his hospitalization, Pope Francis made a daily phone call to the only Catholic parish in the Gaza Strip to check on their safety and offer words of prayer and support. His last public act, the day before he died, was to call for a ceasefire in Gaza."
BREAKING: Pope Francis Dies at 88. Here's How He Should Be Remembered
The late pontiff was a progressive pope who was outspoken on Trump, Gaza, the climate, and more.

When Mike Johnson became Speaker I wrote this to show how he’s basically a walking, talking manifestation of the empirical definition of Christian nationalism.

ABC (Disney), Washington Post (Bezos), Meta (Zuckerberg), LA Times (Soon-Shiong)... all bending the knee to Trump, all obeying in advance, all sucking up to the Dictator-in-Waiting.

This is (part of) how democracies die. This is the Orban, Putin, Netanyahu and Modi playbooks.

I just finished John D Crossan’s latest book, Paul the Pharisee. He further explores the historical Paul, which he sees as an outgrowth of his work on historical Jesus. Crossan may well be the greatest NT scholar of the last 50 years. It is a privilege to read his work. Still going strong at age 90.

It's clear enough to me. Musk is not a conservative. He is a far-right extremist shaped by apartheid, infantile and fascistic fantasies of dominating the universe and an authoritarian family culture & personality.
Apparently it wasn't as complicated as the New York Times wanted us to believe. Support independent, pro-democracy media. www.democracydocket.com/me-subscribe...

Elon Musk owns Twitter/X.

When multi-billionaires take control of our most vital platforms for communication, it’s not a win for free speech. It’s a win for oligarchy

The demons of white supremacy and patriarchy are America’s original sin. These demons are embedded deep within our psyche, carried by tens of millions of us. Instead of confronting the demons, MAGA wants to deny their existence. The divisions among us cannot be healed until the demons are exorcised.

I don’t think Trump cares about immigration. That’s just the presenting cause that got him elected. It keeps his base excited.
Never forget this: The GOP’s nonsensical culture war is meant to distract you from corporate corruption, worker oppression, and staggering wealth inequality.
