Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense does not know where South East Asia is
Duckworth: How many nations are in ASEAN?

Hegseth: We have allies in South Korea, Japan, and Australia

Duckworth: None of those countries are in ASEAN

The craziest part is that it WOULD be so easy to be jealous of Elon. But I'm not sure I can point to a person in the public sphere who seems to be more insecure, needy, and pathetic than he is. There is no better posterchild for "money can't buy you happiness" than Elon Musk.
Greene: Let’s be really clear… You’re attacking Elon Musk because you’re really jealous

Picture 1 is what it looked like when Ukraine liberated the city of Kherson from the Russians. Picture 2 is what it looked like when Russia "liberated" the city of Bakhmut from the Ukrainians.

It is subtle, but see if you can spot the difference.

The Mangione case is exactly why Elon instituted his policy to hide posts that users “like.” Only Elon knows the tweets that Mangione liked. And if he liked ones that fit the narrative he wants, they would’ve already been made public. If Mangione liked a bunch of Elon posts would he disclose that?

When I warned repeatedly that Trump intended to go after the free press in a 2nd term I wasn’t just talking about things like jailing journalists who refuse to reveal leakers or FCC harassment. I was talking about things like this. But they didn’t think it would happen to them.

How privatisation works (and Thames Water is just the latest example).
1. A government takes a national asset built up with taxpayers' money and the work of public servants over many years, and hands it, for a fraction of its value, to a private company.
2. In doing so, it creates a monopoly.

Elon and his team changed the X algorithm so that it would boost pro-Republican accounts as well as Elon's own account.

Remember when he fumed about Twitter Files and "liberal bias"? Elon's X was MUCH worse.
1/ X's algorithm was changed in mid-July 2024 to systematically boost Republican-leaning accounts and Elon Musk's own account following his endorsement of Donald Trump, according to a newly released computational study of engagement from the Queensland University of Technology.⬇️

Germany hasn't fully shaken off its collective guilt for the Nazi atrocities of WWII. And then there's the issue of energy. Europe's preeminent industrial nation, after abandoning nuclear power, has become thoroughly hooked on Russian oil and gas. Not a pretty place to be for any German politician.
📞🇩🇪🤔 Judging by what various Russian mass media write, Scholz and Putin agreed that their assistants would be in touch.

"Russia has never refused and is open to negotiations regarding Ukraine."

Trump's nominee for Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, is a far-right, Christian Zionist, "Temple on Temple Mount" evangelical. This belief system is strongly associated with end times theology: a yearning for Apocalypse triggered by a final war in Israel.
Reassuring to know we'll be in safe hands. 😦

That orange streak is Mercury with its glowing sodium plasma tail, passing in front of the Pleiades cluster.
