If I were running for office, my message would echo the part of the Preamble that argues one of the key purposes of the US government is to "promote the General Welfare." Government can help all of us "fare well." That doesn't mean communism. That means regulations, compassion, and safety nets.

First for me today.... Involved in a train-vehicle accident. I was on the train. Don't mess with trains.

It's still real to me!

I'm a firm believer politicians should emphasize the "promote the general welfare" part of the Constitution. If we're the greatest country on Earth, we should ensure that greatness is spread to as many as possible. So we can all "fare well." Reagan was wrong; government isn't the cause of problems.

I think something like this in Salt Lake/Weber/Utah Counties would be amazing. I'd ride the bus to work if one actually ran frequently near my house!

I liked living in a country of laws. Especially one that didn't kidnap people and then traffic them to other countries for REASONS.

Look, everyone, it’s been more than fifty years since Warergate. Attaching -gate to every scandal or potential scandal is just cringe.

Let’s call it: Signal Dome.

A few years ago I visited the National Museum of African American History & Culture with my grandparents. When we stepped out of the building my grandmother kept repeating the words “I lived it. I lived it. I lived it.”

She’s still here. That history is still in her bones. You can never erase that.

I kind of love the fact that my "Following" feed is just women's soccer commentary and Pete Hegseth crimes.

On this Day of Remembrance, we honor the 120,000 Japanese Americans unjustly imprisoned during WWII because of their heritage. Their resilience remind us to never forget the lessons of history. We will continue to fight for justice, equality, and civil rights for all.

The Kash Patel nomination has me thinking about the historical precedent at the FBI. It's not Hoover; he was bipartisan in his corruption (or, maybe, apartisan.) It's William Burns! He led the Bureau during the Teapot Dome scandal, sending agents to investigate the senators investigating.

No one elected Musk. DOGE isn't a government agency. He's got no business in Treasury servers.
February 2, 2025 at 2:29 AM
Kash Patel should be nowhere near the FBI. His confirmation would return the US to a time when the Bureau acted as the White House's personal police force. It can't happen again. The Senate MUST hold itself as a coequal branch of government.

The censorship algorithm on Twitter reduced our audience by roughly 95%, and seriously, who does that to a wildlife biology & advocacy group ?
So we moved 😇 over here to BlueSky

#OTD 1924, a century ago, Attorney General Harlan Fiske Stone announced publicly his pick of J. Edgar Hoover to be the permanent director of the early #FBI.

Hoover had been interim head since May 10 after Stone, amid the Teapot Dome Scandal, forced corrupt director William J. Burns to resign.
