It was so great seeing this!
Jim Rodenbush, who has been fired as director of student media at Indiana University, reacts to receiving a standing ovation here at #MediaFest25. Jim's ouster this week came amid growing tension between the school and the student newspaper over what content was allowed in the print edition.

We are a barbarian nation.
Breaking news: Federal immigration officers may deport immigrants with as little as six hours’ notice to countries other than their own, even without assurances that the arrivals will be safe from persecution or torture, a top official said.
ICE memo outlines plan to deport migrants to countries where they are not citizens
The dramatic shift in policy could result in thousands of immigrants being deported to places where they lack family ties or even a common language.

Every editor at every mainstream news outlet that has referred to Trump's tax legislation as a Big Beautiful Bill, whether in quotes or not, should be lined against the wall a College of Journalism building on the nearest campus, denied a blindfold, and then shot dead.
That is all.

Massive congratulations to The Baltimore Banner. What they’ve accomplished in three years, in terms of building their newsroom and the quality of journalism they produce, is nothing short of incredible. The Banner has supplanted the 187-year old Sun as the daily record of this city.
Alissa Zhu, Jessica Gallagher and Nick Thieme, reporters for The Baltimore Banner working with The New York Times’s Local Investigations Fellowship, won the Pulitzer for local reporting of the worst drug overdose crisis in U.S. history, in Baltimore. Revisit their winning work here: nyti.ms/44Ii21Z

Surely. Confirm a donation to the Baltimore Banner, a 501C3 non-profit and the last, best hope for a quality newspaper in my city and we will get it done.
@audacityofdespair.bsky.social Hi! A while ago you made an offer on the bad place that, if a $500 donation was made to a particular local paper, you would write an apology for killing any particular Wire character. My husband planned to do that but then life happened, does the offer stand?
