Two years in a row my in-laws didn’t bite on this being on my wishlist (which is how they shop) so I just bought a copy, emailed a gift copy of this & Rank Absurdity to my brother in law, himself a veteran.
From October at the Mountain Workshops, these guys are from PSU. Could have stopped these down - switched from Frankenstein to HP5+ - literally ran between my hotel & this spot to load more film to take these. Yeesh.

Erred on the side of overexposure. HP5+ at 400, 1/60, f/16, a 400ws flash at 1/1 with an umbrella reflector. Could have stopped down to f/22 & framed more carefully. Ah well, the impulse to nab a couple of Xmas Eve Breakfast pics on 4x5 was one I’m glad I followed.

Strangest thing is twice this year while I’ve been on call people in my life have disclosed years (or decades) old experiences of sexual assault and I’ve used the skills from volunteer training.

She did. She got my brother to get a blutooth speaker from his car and when she announced that the adults should open their gifts she started blasting Nickleback
I think my wife is gonna “Look at this photograph” to my fam when we give these out tonight
Mox and I visited two Goodwills and a Michael’s for framing supplies. Some are easier to repurpose than others but we did find some gems and did not buy the obviously haunted long white frame with matt for 3 4x6 infant hand or foot prints, still present but cockeyed behind the matt.

The thing that all #ShittyCameraChallenge contestants know—and which vanishingly few camera publications understand—is that any camera can yield interesting images if you work what it is instead of punishing it for what it is not, and if yours can't yield interesting images it might be a skill issue

Not replacing my Westcott lights but tossing these in the bag for size. I can pocket the flash and take it to dinner.
