If the only thing that wins is the runaway viral hit, if all that the media can talk about, if all the streamers can play is that one viral game.

Then passion , art and experimentation dies.... because all that is left to survive...... is to gamble and become that game.

That is 2025...

It’s a great format!!! I have a replacement shortcut that types out YYYY-MM-DD and I use it all the time. Best format.

I think you’re right, but something must have spooked them. From my experience I think some permutations of UX have such disastrous test sessions that they become forbidden, even if they have potential later on. Or someone was just stubborn.

This is terrible!! Protect the penguin. 😣

I often think Nintendo UX is designed to avoid overwhelming inexperienced players. They don’t mind irritating the hardcore in the process. It’s a shame they don’t add a pro option.

When I was designing the Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 interface it was much easier. Same for the Planet Coaster interface.

Awesome article!! I’d love to hear more about your experience playing games together with your kids when they are really young.

Would an eink screen achieve some of the same results?

Realistically, what is OS navigation like with keyboard only? I guess if you’re using emacs or terminal for everything that’s okay. Maybe a big scroll wheel and joystick mouse is a good combo.

Some projects are treated as ‘important and must be made to work well’ and other stuff gets neglected. It’s weird how much iOS and OSX stuff is treated as important.

This looks fantastic!! The walls seem okay from first impression but it might feel different to play it.

Good article. Your keyboards and cuckoo clocks are nice examples. I’ve been craving tactile things recently. I’ve recently been playing with Play Doh and it feels so good to manipulate with fingers. Much better than other brands too.
