The best historical artefacts are the accidental ones that freeze a moment in time forever.

I thought I’d try to find all the times pets have ruined their owner's day and recorded that instant for all of history.

Now advent of code is over, I have (some limited) energy for side projects!

It'd be nice seeing if we can have a social network with less centralised outrage - just some positive community vibes.

Anyway, I'm Doug - I like the Peak District, LitRPGs and on a good day, computers.

I take (and can give) walk recommendations! #hikesky

I think my problem with this kind of social media is I'm not quite sure what I'm trying to get out of it - I don't think that the life of those who were "successful" at twitter measure success in the same was as I.

Never the less, I suck at getting round to actual blogging - so maybe this can work.

I hate how capitalism has succeeded in convincing us that pleasure is derived from consumption instead of creativity, which is truly fulfilling and doesn't require suffering but growth. I hate how creativity is only ever encouraged as long as it's going to make profit for capitalists.

I'm old enough to remember when a computer didn't automatically connect to the internet, it used to make a screaming noise. We should have listened.

I think a lot about how one of the most straightforward ways that people can honor the memory of the Holocaust victims is by enthusiastically welcoming refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants to our countries — and how rare it is to see that moral stance represented in even liberal politics today.
Not only, but not least, obscene because these people oppose immigration and support inhumane crackdowns on asylum seekers— that is, they want a world people fleeing persecution don't have anyplace to flee *to*.
