Somewhere at the intersection of engineer, artist, writer, and nature
I was in a hurry at DragonCon 2017 and accidentally shoulder checked actor Matt Smith. Both of us had places to be so we just kept walking lol
Please quote this with the time you didn’t interact with someone famous - eg one time I was in Cardiff the same weekend as Willem Dafoe (but I didn’t see him or even know he was there until he appeared on the telly later)
Please quote this with your major interactions with massive celebrities. eg “I was married to the pope for fifteen years”

If your fictional series has reached a point where "Requiem" enters the title, then you have gone too far. There is no recovery, your series is now irrevocably mid.

A lifetime of stealth games have taught me how to avoid store employees during the holiday season. Just let me shop in peace.

I used to be baffled why Weyland Yutani would keep throwing money at the untameable, inherently deadly xenomorphs despite the lack of a single positive quality to the beasts. It never works out!

But now I look at real companies throwing money at AI and I'm no longer baffled.

@samreich.bsky.social Kori Brown did you proud at the #MNStateFair!

Looking forward to the new #pope announcing that Malort will be the new communion wine.

Controversial opinion: I think gnolls are underrated in #dnd

They're so simple in their motivations it's... Kind of beautiful. They can't be reasoned with, can't be bargained with or bought, but they're not an alien hive mind or something.
They're just angry hyena men. That's it.

my D&D players had a remarkably heartfelt moment between 2 at-odds characters and wow is this what it means to have a good campaign?

Painfully real and accurate. I have been seen with the intensity of the eye of Sauron.

If you're a martial class in #dnd, you may sometimes be miffed by the casters in your party taking 10 minutes to cast a spell in combat.
Upstage them by taking equally long to graphically describe how you swing your sword twice.

The real problem with being a dungeon master in #dnd is that you get way invested in your villains.
So when the heroes respond in heroic fashion to your grand evil monologues (by dismissing them instead of applauding them) it feels real bad lol
December 17, 2024 at 6:12 PM
"but I didn't make these problems! Why am I responsible for fixing them?"
My guy, you may not have planted this grove, but it's now your job to help take care of the trees.
Otherwise, we're all gonna perish in the inevitable forest fire.

Wild to think that, from a thermodynamic standpoint, entering a hot tub *technically makes the hot tub colder* at least for a moment.

"You realize this process change will mean more work, right??"
Well yeah, but it also means having a functional process.
Yes, changing the tires on our car will take effort *but now we can drive somewhere*

See a dino, post a #dino

Despite me feeling mediocre about this sketch, it got traction on a different platform. It was fun to make though, including challenging myself to draw a stego in a pose other than profile. Maybe I'll revisit this some time.

One of the many things I love about #dnd is that it's like mental Lego. You have all these systems/worlds/groups and you can connect them however you want to tell the story that you want.
And that's kinda beautiful.

I need a stronger phrase than "excited anticipation" for how I feel about this next set of encounters for my D&D party.

It's taken me two decades of Making Stuff to discover that cardboard is the best material for building props and scenery.
Malleable yet strong? Cheap yet plentiful? Alterable with everyday tools?
Our finest invention as a species

Sharing Malört with others is a time honored tradition amongst Chicagoans, an interaction that usually starts with "you're gonna love this drink..."
Malört is, in one word, unforgiving. It tastes a little like sucking dandelion juice through a straw made of car tires. It is also... kind of good. The divisive yet beloved liquor, once available only in Chicago, has gained devotees nationally. nyti.ms/4eOGy2u

Ah but when I shout into THIS void the echo is far less dreadful.

I have a mouth and feel no need to scream (because this app is well moderated and balanced?)

So what does that make us, some kind of Bluesky Squad?
