Back lurking on Twitter for first time since Musk. Always thought its main advantage was that its reach was broad enough to have its finger on the pulse of breaking events.

But now that situational awareness is overwhelmed by a flood of constant conspiracy theories and instant political deflection.

Bluesky in a nutshell.

Just share your powerless opinion and be fine with that.
one thing that seems to be universal online is that people give political advice based on the imaginary electorate that only exists in their head instead of the boring old real one that actually exists

In theory this should be a big blow to Trump, his style, and any misguided trust in his competence. By playing dumb power games, he winds up with less than he would’ve gotten by working within the system. And with maximum animosity and disruption.

Two courtroom defeats dealt a blow to President Donald Trump’s strategy, even as an appeals court reinstated existing tariffs.

I get the point here. But these terms aren’t mere academic vanity. This language emerges in service/advocacy contexts when people face barriers to care b/c of stigma. E.g., families of prisoners often face real problems getting help because of their situation.

Democratic troubles revive debate over left-wing buzzwords
From “intersectionality” to “equity,” many say jargon is alienating key voters. But progressives say inclusive language is vital.

Is the dominance of conservative voices in podcasting due to social influence—or social selection? I personally doubt that podcasting makes listeners conservative. Instead I suspect cons are likelier to listen to podcasts, due to differences in education and employment.

Two types of moderation. One is to chase positions that motivate the other side, with some watered-down version. At best, you're diffusing the emotional capital of the other side _before_ it gains momentum. At worst, the momentum is already there, and all you're doing is ceding ground on key issues.
It's easy to recognize that your electoral prospects aren't looking great. It's harder to decide what to do about it.
