Welp, I've officially finished reading Wind and Truth.

It's a surreal feeling to be halfway done with the Stormlight Archive. 5 books, 5,876 pages, 2,178,369 words. It's been quite a journey.

I just beat Veilguard.

Not a perfect game (should have been called Dreadwolf, for starters, and smashing vases for health is silly) but I had an absolutely spectacular time with it. The squad is as good as its ever been. The twists in the final act of the story had me hollering. 1/

As a player in a Dungeons and Dragons game, have you ever struggled to find a reason why your character would engage in the adventure your DM was presenting?

How did you handle it?

Six decades later, Star Trek may still be the only franchise based on the ideas that diversity is strength, justice is the measure of civilization, bounty is to be shared, peace is worth the price, and all these things can be achieved.

We need more shows that look ahead and find goodness.

I've twice mentioned here that reading Robin Hobb has helped me get through this month. Someone asked me why and I outlined all the things I appreciate about the Assassin Trilogy as an author, editor, English PhD, MFA-holder, poet, retired prof who taught lit.... I could've just posted this excerpt:

"Bluesky is awesome now, for how long?" I mean, look, all things change and end, we will all die, earth will be uninhabitable in a billion years, then the sun will expand and destroy the planet, and the universe will die a slow death of proton decay. But BEFORE THAT, let's make this place fun, okay?

You know, it's funny, I never even had the bird app. All I know is @dril screenshots. Is this what the other place was like in the olden days? Because I kinda like it.

Thread for those new to BlueSky. First of all, welcome. It feels like a safer space, doesn’t it? But also perhaps a bit disorienting initially? Here’s some tips for getting your bearings.

Guess I'm here now.

Hey yall, I'm Soren, the mustachioed, middle-aged anxietyman wizard. I fought Strahd Von Zarovich and all I got was this stupid T-shirt.
