ICE wants to deport a BYU PhD student for the crime of organizing a church fishing trip 6 years ago, where he himself did not fish but the other attendees caught too many.

In 2019 a BYU Japanese PhD student helped organized a fishing outing. The group caught more fish than they were allowed, but prosecutors decided not to charge him.
Now, his visa is being revoked.

There’s a Dilbert cartoon where Dogbert is acting as Dilbert’s criminal defense attorney and he tells Dilbert “I made a deal, if you plead guilty and take the death penalty they’ll give me a Walkman, but I think I can get you a Walkman too,” but I can’t find it so I can’t post more about Paul Weiss.

Ohio: 6 schools received more than $10 million from NIH in 2024 for a total of ~$700 million. Of that, $440 million went directly to research and $260 million went to facilities and administration. The new indirect cost rate would bring that to $66 million, a loss of $194 million.
