I remember being like 10 years old, understanding war mostly as “when countries send people to fight to the death and eventually someone wins,” and every now and then anxiously asking my conservative parents if we had won the war on terror yet. Man I think one of the weirdest things about this timeline is that the only part of the lyrics to “Handlebars” by Flobots that’s not still painfully real is the “I can see your face on the telephone” line cuz that’s not a flex anymore. Everything else? Frighteningly relevant for a 20-year-old song
