Making some good trouble in between dog walks.
Here is a stark lesson about the power of partisanship, Republicans who only just now realize something is off about the tone and tenor of the country:

GOOD THREAD: One more consequence of too many parked cars in cities (and one more reason to replace surface parking with trees and people-places).

All those parked cars are making hot cities even hotter.

(at a minimum, choose a white car.) #UrbanHeat
Bad news for cities. 🚨

Cars are parked 95% of the time, eating up valuable street space.

Now, new research from Lisbon shows parked cars are also intensifying urban heat: by as much as +3.8°C. 🌡️

Las Vegas is hurting as tourism drops. Are Canadians behind the Sin City slump? @cbcnews.ca Canadians’ response to Trump’s threats are not the cause of economic impacts in the U.S. The blame for their economic troubles falls squarely on Trump and his many enablers. #dobetter #selfinflicted

Canada needs a federal minister responsible for the prevention of violent crime, supported by a deputy minister with no other responsibilities.

The successes in other countries suggest this approach could reduce serious crime by 50 per cent in the next five years, write two experts.

Instead of overreliance on policing and incarceration, Canada’s new PM should lead with these proven and effective actions.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

Poilievre sure does love USA policies for Canada. Looks like he is envious of what Trump has achieved with SCOTUS appointments. Keep your hands off the independence of our Canadian judiciary! #ElbowUp #cdnpoli

The ratio is 100/100 here. Replies are unequivocal countering any legitimizing of Trump’s threats and the “I see some people are upset” pat on the head. The question now is whether @ianhanomansing.bsky.social will meet this moment and choose to do better.
I see some people are upset with our topic Checkup Sunday. With President Trump repeating his "51st state" comments, we feel it is important to talk about. Even better, for Americans to hear our voices via the NPR stations that will be simulcasting.
