Also in Libraryland, a very nice other Simon gave me this as a gift today 🥰.

Today in Libraryland ...

We had a man bring over a pair of shoes that he'd found and was intending to keep. It took at least 5 mins of conversation about how they needed to go into lost property, even if he "could use them", before a 2nd man came over to retrieve his shoes, then just walked away.

Today's rain:

"Oh, so you remembered your big coat and hat and wore both while leaving work? Will that protect your knees from being saturated if I start raining horizontally? Thought not."

🌧️🥺

Today in Libraryland...

We were horrendously busy and short-staffed all day.

The plus side being that everyone who needed an extraordinary and time-consuming amount of help with pretty much everything while I was on my own was very polite about it?

I realllyyy need to get into the habit of opening Bluesky first thing in the morning. FB doubled down on what was supposed to be Trans Day of Remembrance.

It's more like people just remembered how easy it is to punch down without consequence.

I've been feeling low recently, and needed the Friday I had, which involved racing like a large (unfit) child around a soft play with a 3 year old, who earlier had pulled my fingers, and when asked if he was trying to pull them off, grinned and said yes, as well as all my toenails. Kids are feral 😅😏

Bloody hell, I think we have a new winner ... 🤦🏻🤦🏻

Narrowly edging out that roundabout in Bloxwich with V For Vendetta vibes painted on a black tarmac background ...

Went for a walk with the dog to clear my headache, found a ... fossil?

The rest of the park was incongruously autumnal.

Today was a bejewelled spider web kind of day, with not a drop of colour to the sky.

I wish there weren't news stories containing incredible irony every single day lately...
“I’ll declare war on you if you don’t give me the peace prize” is an incredible bit

Today, this was work.

The Halloween decorating is going to be exceptional this year. 🦇 We're working on a garland of various vampires as bats.

We're also expanding on last year's "work", which was the hand-drawn Batt Berry 😉

And today in Libraryland, I am quite glad to have a day off tomorrow because it has been turbulent AF for the entire week so far. Just non-stop incidents and drama with a chaotic art exhibition thrown in.

My bed beckons.

Yesterday I finished reading this lovely book. A really peaceful way of considering death, but also life, with dogs and lesbian romance. Book 43 of 2025.

Last night, the egg box was mysteriously on the floor. The jury's still out on how it got there, but we do know that Molly deviously waited for us not to notice the one that had rolled and then silently chewed it up in her bed ...

I'm still here! We had an anniversary, the 15th one that we've had, and went to a spa, which feels like several years ago now.

My current mental health would be a slowly declining wiggly line.

I'm avoiding the other online places like the plague.

Agh, mad week. I almost forgot to post about Libraryland. I'm back!

Yesterday, someone produced the black and white page they had accidentally printed and asked me if I would photocopy it in colour because it's "quicker than logging back in".

🤦🏻

First day back in Libraryland ...
Questioning whether having a week off means that I'm now a library ghost.

I got asked 3 separate times whether I work there. I was wearing a uniform and a lanyard all day. Once I was carrying a giant stack of books. Once I was sitting at the desk, using the PC.

Yesterday in Libraryland I won employee of the month, which I think is mostly co-worker nominations intended to embarrass the recipient 😅. May have to counter-nominate.

Now for 10 days away from Libraryland ...

Our eldest attended his first concert yesterday - a 12 hour tribute band festival that he came home from just before midnight sunburned and avidly telling us how they all "barked at the moon" for Ozzy and his friend broke his glasses in a mosh pit. This teenage growing up bit isn't always so bad 🥰.

“You didn’t have to shoot anyone.” Heat crept into Thiago’s voice. “If you needed supplies, we would have given them to you.” Don’t worry, the “anyone” who got shot was me.

Yesterday, my dog launched herself, two front paws first at my kneecap in greeting when I came home from work.

That was pretty much the day 😅.

Feeling a bit grey today. The sky was too, but the park was still pretty.
