Young American men volunteer for military service, knowing they may have to sacrifice their lives for their country.
But they didn't volunteer to sacrifice their futures to protect the President or Secretary of Defense from being convicted of crimes.
That's not the service for which we thank them.

All the comments under Tim's article are excellent and worth a read... #auspol

“Ride a bike, play some footy” is not neutral advice. It assumes time, safety, bodies that work, communities that welcome you. Plenty of kids have none of those things.
This comment under Tim Dunlop's excellent article on the social media ban is spot on.

The social media ban is highly reactionary (& a result of a wedge) and is 'neat, plausible & wrong'

Admiral Bradley is set to brief Congress tomorrow on the boat strikes—

Which brings Admiral Holsey’s recent resignation to mind, after he informed Hegseth that he had no intention of carrying out an illegal order after 40 years of service in the U.S. Navy—

I’d like to hear Holsey’s testimony too

The claim: “We do not have a gas supply problem. We have a gas export problem.”

That’s from Independent Member for Bradfield, Nicolette Boele, who moved a private member’s motion urging the Government to restrict gas exports to ease shortages.

Today is TrueNorth's 450th newsletter - where for 450 days (wow - that's a lot) I've curated news & views from Australia's excellent independent news publishers & commentators - into a 4pm newsletter.

It's been a privilege to support real public interest journalism in my own small way.

Fentanyl. Drug Overdoses, including Fentanyl, are not even in the top 20 causes of death in the USA. Cancer, Diabetes, Covid, Heart Disease all in the top 10, and all have had their research funding cut. They aren't murdering just Venezuelans. However they are killing us much slower.

This sets out the clear, bullet-point agreed plan that, if funded by Australian governments, would stop most ongoing family violence & make women & children way safer. Governments choose not to, while spending $60m on PNG men's rugby, $96m on crap BOMsite, millions on dicky consultants, etc.
