This is *very* bad news indeed. Proton is where most of us go for secure, hassle-free email.

Sometimes, when hearing about all the hats I've worn in this life, people come back at me with " well, that seems like a LOT" in a challenging way.

What I always think, but never say to them is "Good gods -- what have you done with your life, that this seems like "a lot" to you?"

While Western society has some social acceptance for telling people they are going to hell eternally, there is essentially none for telling someone they are making life hell on earth in the here and now.

Imagine how different the world could be if the idea of eternal damnation never existed.

Virtual Private Networks *are* a good privacy tool -- but are not the be-all, end-all solution they are frequently touted to be. Serious online privacy takes a little work, but it's easy to start when you know where to begin.

Take this advice -- no _really_. Your life is not as private as you probably think it is -- but you can mitigate that without becoming a digital hermit.
This is why I harp on surveillance self-defense. Reduce your attack surface by adjusting privacy settings and using E2EE apps (ssd.eff.org). And Sweet Mother of Artemis, remember that everything you post on social media is hoovered. Don't talk about doing crime, and don't threaten anyone's life.

Just a reminder of one of the many ways the current US administration is determined to screw over ordinary folks & small businesses.
Small-batch enamel pins come largely from China. With the USPS pause on deliveries from China, a) please be kind to any Kickstarter that has not yet started fulfillment; the creators genuinely can't do anything about a governmental shutdown, and b) I may not be able to do this year's Toby pins.

How interesting -- apparently the acting AG thinks the "president's agenda" diverges from the law these prosecutors have already sworn to “faithfully implement” -- and has chosen agenda over the law.

Not everyone can fight Trumpism and Trumpists directly. But remember this: kindness, decency, and fidelity to American values are defiance in the face of Trumpism.

So be kind, decent, and faithful, particularly to the many kinds of people despised and attacked by Trumpists. That’s revolutionary./1
