I am saddened by posts and comments saying they feel no empathy for the murder of Charlie Kirk. It is especially grievous to see these comments coming from clergy. One may decry his politics, but to withhold empathy denies that we are created in the Imago Dei. ⚓

On this day, my 12th great-grandfather set sail from Plymouth aboard the Mayflower, signing the Mayflower Compact and fleeing the ‘popish tyranny’ of the Church of England - only to have his grandson become an Anglican priest. Turns out generational irony is the family heirloom. ⚓

Interesting numbers out of the Church of England which has been experiencing the "Quiet Revival." They've seen significant growth since COVID. It's really interesting to see the midweek attendance which is outpacing Sunday attendance. ⚓

I'm scrolling past story after story of these murders of children at the Minneapolis Catholic school next to videos posted of our parish day school children happily going to their first chapel of the year. It compounds the brokenness in my heart right now. Come, Lord Jesus. ⚓
