On this day, my 12th great-grandfather set sail from Plymouth aboard the Mayflower, signing the Mayflower Compact and fleeing the ‘popish tyranny’ of the Church of England - only to have his grandson become an Anglican priest. Turns out generational irony is the family heirloom. ⚓

I'm scrolling past story after story of these murders of children at the Minneapolis Catholic school next to videos posted of our parish day school children happily going to their first chapel of the year. It compounds the brokenness in my heart right now. Come, Lord Jesus. ⚓

This is as thrilled as it gets. Handling the church over the summer with a rector who is on vacation, in addition to my job with the Diocese, and squeezing in my full-time secular job that pays the bills. But no complaining - I get a full three hours of sleep each night. 😂
