Feeling embarrassed by your past work is not a sign of incompetence. It’s a mark of growth.

Regretting your prior decisions doesn't reflect poor judgment. It reveals new insight.

Cringing at your old opinions doesn't display ignorance. It demonstrates an open mind.

Donald Trump’s termination of Register of Copyrights, Shira Perlmutter, is a brazen, unprecedented power grab with no legal basis.

It's surely no coincidence he acted less than a day after she refused to rubber-stamp Elon Musk’s efforts to mine troves of copyrighted works to train AI models.

Fascinating read!
Tech compensation is trimodal: meaning a software eng can make 2-4x the compensation, depending on what company they work at.

Today, we validate this theory with more data points than ever: 20,000+, coming from Levels.fyi

An interesting read on layoffs.
“…leadership often swoops in and redirects efforts toward entirely different goals. You trust their judgment…Then, when the arbitrary goals they set aren’t met, the company decides to cut staff. Those who made the poor decisions remain”

This is wild. Also a horrible day to have eyes and see how far AI generated videos have come 🙈
This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

I found this post and clip validating in times like this where people think removing DEI means “going back” to merit-based hiring. Former Google CEO talking about how data showed “extreme evidence of male bias against female candidates.”

The NAACP wants Black Americans to take their purchasing power, which some studies value at over a trillion dollars, to businesses that align with the civil rights group's values.

👇 paid opportunity!!
I’d be happy to pay someone $200-$300 to do documentation for Blacksky (feeds, content moderation, and FAQs).
I know most folks that use the platform will be informed via these posts on the platform. I also think centralized docs (maybe on www.blackskyweb.xyz) on how Blacksky works (for the user, in the app, not just the tech behind it) would be helpful ❤️ sometimes re-finding a post to share info is hard

Clicking the Blacksky hashtag is not the same as using the Blacksky feed. The feed is linked below. It is chronologically ordered and the content is curated through human moderation, automation, and some pre-filtering logic. The community of users also proactively reports content to @blacksky.app

Ok I sampled PixelFed. I desperately want dark mode. It feels a little clunky which is expected for any new app. I think I want to see Flashes for a proper comparison (essentially mastodon vs. bsky for Instagram competitors). I’m likely going to be biased towards bsky to be clear.
