Great to see Bronzeville keep turning empty lots into 3-flats.

ACS data is only through 2023, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear total population along the south lakefront neighborhoods is back at post-2000s highs by now.

Thanks to the Illinois’ massive investment in transit, Chicago has a bright transit future, with the dawn coming next year:
—50% increase in every-10-min bus routes to 30 citywide
—8-minute midday headways on rail lines
—24-hour Orange Line service (Red & Blue already have it)

we can & should build better than this block long Burlington parking lot on Broadway next to the CTA red line. We want more of what makes city living great: more small biz entrepreneurs, more CTA riders, and more housing opportunities for all people no matter your race or class.

When you open a street up to people - anything can happen! It was fantastic to be out for another beautiful Meet Me On Milwaukee, hosted by @aldermanlaspata.bsky.social! We saw little kids riding their bikes, tandems, strollers, dogs, dining, DJs, and a lot more.

What street should do this next?

Taiwan is a major trading partner for IL & what stands out during my visit here is their amazing transit system.

Trains are spotless, safe & EXACTLY on time. It’s efficient & trusted by millions every day.

Chicago can get here. Reliable public transit should be a top priority of a thriving city.
